Moments with Lexie M has been a year in the making. Why is the first sentence of any writing the hardest? At least for me it is. It can be at the beginning of a book, a thank you note, a letter written for any purpose, or a weekly blog. So today I begin. Although I enjoy writing, reading is my passion. Putting off the writing to read is a problem I need to conquer. While reading a recent post on The Writing Bug I was directed to Excuse Editor: "Learning to focus has always been a challenge for the writer" Writer's block isn't just that frozen place in the middle of the novel. I found it in the beginning of a blog I've wanted to start for quite some time.
Research is an important part of writing. Take care that it isn't used as an excuse to keep from writing. We hear so often, "just write". Write for 20 minutes, write for an hour, or write for an entire day. Find the balance for you and just begin.
How do you keep your focus on writing when other demands get in the way, including the love of reading?
